Does Diet Affect Our Bodies CBD Absorption? Preliminary Research Shows It Just Might.
One of the most common questions with CBD is the right dosage for oral consumption. An important factor in determining this is your most recent meal.
Research has shown that only about 3-10% of CBD is absorbed into the bloodstream when taken on an empty stomach, but you may get up to five times as much if you first eat a fatty meal.
Scientists at GW Research recently worked on a study to discover more. The group studied CBD absorption after five different meal types – light breakfast, heavy breakfast, 10 hours fasting, a large glass of milk, and alcohol in lemonade. The results for both kinds of breakfasts were similar to the older results.
While taking CBD after a light meal increased CBD exposure by three times, it increased by four times after a heavy one. It also increased slightly after consuming milk.
Nearly half of the participants experienced side effects, such as nausea and headache. Taking 750 mg dose of CBD with 40 grams of alcohol after ten hours of fast is equivalent of downing five standard drinks in a span of a few minutes. This group had a lot of participants complain of side effects including fatigue, dizziness, and nausea.
