The CBD Market Has Gone Mainstream With Awareness And Demand Still On The Rise
CBD has become more popular in recent times and you can see it in beverages, food, and supplements. Since the CBD market is just starting out, there is a lot of opportunities for brands that decide to get into this industry. Research by FMCG Gurus found that only 1 in 10 use CBD products and only about 39% of consumers know about CBD oil. This itself indicates that CBD has a lot of potential to expand.
The most popular way of finding out about CBD is via word-of-mouth (52%), followed by online articles (44%). One challenge the industry will have to face is the perception of safety. The reason for this lies with the products since 41% of consumers said they don’t know much about CBD to trust it while another 38% wanted to know potential side effects.
While trying to attract more users, claims play a major role. The top claims that seem to attract more users are that CBD helps with cognitive health issues (47%) and depression and anxiety (47%).
Claims are a challenging area for CBD, especially in the gold rush U.S. market where regulators have ramped up their oversight of and action against drug, disease and other claims that fall outside of what is allowed for dietary supplements and foods.
