More Accurate Testing And Labeling Of CBD Products Shows The Cannabis Industry Is Maturing
Leafreport.com conducted an independent study in Canalysis Laboratories to understand what CBD products contain in addition to the label information. LeafReport is a peer-reviewed CBD educational platform. They tested 37 CBD products and found that that most had CBD levels within the 10% threshold of the label print. This outcome suggests that the CBD industry is growing more transparent and accurate with 73% of companies testing within 10% of their mentioned potency. This allows the customers to feel confident that they are getting what they are paying for. One issue is that testing labs are not always reliable, later creating issues over incorrect labels and inconsistent results.
About 13% of the products failed the test with some having a nearly 30% hike in the CBD levels than what was stated on their label or were as much as 30% understrength. It is always a good idea to go with the brands you are familiar with or companies having a good reputation. While more CBD does not equate to more THC, but it could. This is a good reason for sticking to reputable brands. Many products also had significant amounts of minor cannabinoids.
According to an article from LeafReport, “Many of the CBD products sold, particularly full spectrum products, likely contain significant levels of these cannabinoids and most of the time, the buyer has no information regarding the levels of these different classes of cannabinoids.”
