Study Considers Advantages And Potential Downsides Of Using CBD Rather Than Opioids For Pain Relief
AmericanMarijuana conducted a study recently that used CBD for pain relief to understand how it works as opposed to opioid. The research considered multiple factors including advantages, potential downsides, effectiveness, and doctor’s perception of the treatment.
A whopping 60% of the users use CBD to treat chronic pain followed by migraine pain (34%). Smoking or vaping seems to be the most common CBD administration method followed by using topicals and tinctures. It is eye-opening to note that 55% of the participants in the study admitted to steering clear of THC for pain management.
Out of those who use opioids, a stunning 97% of them stopped their use or started using fewer opioids after getting started with CBD. Since CBD is relatively free of side-effects and is not addictive, more and more users are starting to prefer it compared to opioids.
Nearly three-quarters of the users mentioned that their opioid withdrawal symptoms went down after they started using CBD. About 84% of the participants believe that CBD can be an effective alternative for opioids. To be able to participate in the research, the qualifying question is – “Do you use CBD for pain relief?” If they do not, they are ineligible.
We also have an attention-check question in the middle of the survey to ensure participants do not randomly answer the survey.
