The University of Nebraska and the Texas Biomedical Research Institute have researchers working to understand how CBD could help decrease the lethal lung inflammation caused by COVID-19. It is believed that the anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties of cannabis could come to the rescue to help beat the coronavirus.
So far, there have been no effective therapeutic treatments. Some of the ones that help treat COVID-19 usually come with dangerous side effects like pancreatitis and hypertriglyceridemia. The researchers also examined older studies that demonstrated the anti-inflammatory properties of cannabis. In addition to treating the disease itself, cannabis is also known to help those affected in other ways due to the pandemic. With a poor economy and many laid off their jobs, CBD could help improve the people’s mental health as well.
