Can The Anti-Inflammatory Properties Of CBD Help To Treat Lung Inflammation Triggered By COVID-19?
As new daily coronavirus infections continue to break records in the U.S., researchers are considering whether the cannabis plant has the potential to be used in the treatment of COVID-19.
Researchers from the University of Nebraska and the Texas Biomedical Research Institute are suggesting that scientists should look into the CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties which could be used to treat lung inflammation triggered by the coronavirus. While no scientific evidence suggests that cannabis could help with COVID-19, there is a chance that it might, and we need further studies to establish results.

This leads to nausea, high fever, inflammation, severe fatigue, and even organ failure. Since CBD is an IL-6 cytokine inhibitor, it could potentially decrease the cytokines production. In addition to CBD, there are other cannabinoids in the cannabis plant that can be used for their anti-inflammatory properties. Since it does not have a lot of side-effects, CBD is promising as a potential treatment. That being said, one should be careful against using CBD as a treatment for COVID-19 since its medical is not proved conclusively yet.
