Checking Preconceived Notions At The Door, Nebraska Hemp Forum Is Greeted Enthusiastically By Ranchers And Farmers.
Morning for Hemp in Nebraska: Six Feet Apart Hands-On Hemp Forum was held on 24th July.
The scheduled five-hour seminar featured walking tours, slideshow presentations, pamphlets, views of budding hemp plants and a demonstration of technology used to further innovation in Nebraska’s latest agricultural endeavor.
One of the presentations took place outside under the forgiving shade of a tent where hemp growers talked about the industry while the attenders slowly started asking questions as they got interested. Meanwhile, another group visited a presentation by the Doane University Cannabis Testing Laboratories. Following the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp was allowed to be grown once again across Midwest America.
Alex Seyfert of the Midwest Hemp Forum took the group through the thousand-year history of hemp, concluded by mentioning that this event would be held more like a field trip rather than a classroom-styled session. To keep everyone safe, there were masks and hand sanitizers available at the sign-in sheet area and the event took the names and details of all those who attended. The Doane University chemistry professors presented the learners with the steps of growing hemp plants and what needs to be done if producers submit hemp plants for testing through the USDA. Unfortunately, due to legal issues surrounding logistics, it makes things difficult to get the investments back into Nebraska. A major benefit for Nebraska growing hemp is that it would get some dollars into the economy along with the fact that the hemp will do the soil great good.
