Mother Arrested For Using CBD To Treat Her Severe Osteoarthritis Is Suing Disney World
CBD oil comes from hemp and may contain little to no THC at all. According to the complaint filed by Hester Burkhalter in Orange County, Florida, CBD oil is legal in the state of Florida and quite easily available. The complaint also highlights that the field test revealed the CBD oil that she had with her contained no THC, but the law enforcement officer still charged her with felony narcotics possession regardless. Burkhalter was arrested at Disney World in front of her husband, children, tourists, and the general public. She was then forced to go through a body cavity search. After 15 hours, her bail was set at $2,000. After all this, the charges were simply dropped.
Burkhalter’s lawsuit seeks $6 million in compensatory damages and $12 million in punitive damages. Her husband and three children are seeking $1 million each in compensatory damages and $3 million each in punitive damages.
Besides this, she says that the Disney employees also asked her family to leave the park. The statement also says that Disney ejected Hester and her family as trespassers, adding to the humiliation. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office refused to comment.
