Could Those On The Autism Spectrum Benefit From The Use Of CBD? Clinical Trial Is Looking For Volunteers To Find Out.
CBD oil has gained popularity with many believing it would be able to cure a wide range of health and mental issues. A new phase III clinical trial is trying to understand if CBD can be used to treat autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) in pediatric patients. Two previous studies help us to understand that children suffering from ASDs could gain benefits with CBD. In both studies, parents had reported significant improvement and good progress in the children. The latest trial has children between the ages of 7 and 14 who are suffering from ASDs.
The goal of the study is to determine exactly how CBD interacts with pediatric candidates, and if it can be used as an effective treatment for multiple symptoms.
It is a double-blind clinical trial with one batch getting CBD and the other placebo and then switched. The participants would also undergo behavioral testing, MRI scans, and electroencephalograms. If there is a good result, this could be then reported to the FDA to help them develop drugs for the treatment of ASDs. Thanks to reduced THC levels, the users will not get “high” due to CBD. The research uses full-spectrum CBD oil for this purpose. It would be beneficial enough while avoiding the “high” feeling. Additionally, if this clinical trial is successful, this could pave the way for the FDA to approve CBD as a treatment for ASDs.
