“The Cannabis Industry – Seeds to Needs” Program At Small Nebraska College Is Helping To Lead The Way In Cannabis Education
Doane University, a Nebraska-based liberal arts school, last year launched a Cannabis Certificate Program under the leadership of its Director of Cannabis Studies Dr. Andrea Holmes.
The program, titled “The Cannabis Industry – Seeds to Needs,” offers three online certificate courses that cover all aspects of this fast-growing new field of opportunity — from cultivation, processing, testing, law, and regulations, to how to get a job or build a business in the emerging cannabis industry.
So far, more than 13,000 students have registered from 166 nations. This indicates that the field has a lot of interest across the globe and needs highly qualified and educated people to impart knowledge. The university has seven cannabis-related courses on offer, each worth three credits. These seven courses take the student through the history, biology, agronomy, medicinal aspects, testing, and processing techniques of marijuana and hemp.
It is nice to see that the eight-week flexible courses have been designed by experts in the field. The university is also entering cannabis-industry entrepreneurship with a newly-opened commercial ISO-certified cannabis testing facility in Nebraska. With COVID-19 impacting the education sector greatly, many colleges and universities are trying new ways of getting new students. With ideas for new and interesting courses, Doane University is leading the way in the sector.
