Center For Cannabis Policy, Research And Outreach At Washington State University Has Nearly 100 Scientists For Cannabis-Related Projects.
The Washington State University (WSU) Faculty Senate and Board of Regents have formalized the school’s extensive research into cannabis by establishing a Center for Cannabis Policy, Research and Outreach (CCPRO).
The university has about 100 scientists to oversee a wide range of existing cannabis-related projects. This recognition by the center allows the researchers to continue working on cannabis and its impact on various aspects, such as public safety and also allow them to focus on their growing hemp research. One of the many research teams is working on hemp planting trials and is into its second year of research. WSU researchers have worked with Oregon and California universities to understand and research hemp germplasm for CBD and industrial uses. They are also studying plant chemistry to learn about different varieties that can grow better in various regions of the state.
Over the last 6 years, WSU researchers have worked on 50 projects. A popular study is around the behavioral and biological predictors of cannabis abuse using a novel animal model of cannabis vapor administration which recently received a grant of $400,000 from the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
