Finding The Ideal CBD Dosage Is Key To Combating Individual Anxiety Symptoms
It is estimated that about 40 million adult Americans have some type of anxiety disorder. With CBD, anxiety is highly treatable. For mild cases of anxiety, CBD can work wonders while for more severe cases, there may be medication involved. A 2019 study involving 72 patients found that about 80% of the participants mentioned that their anxiety had improved after taking CBD. This study echoes similar results published in Neurotherapeutics in 2015. In this case, researchers reviewed 49 preclinical, clinical, and epidemiological studies. Their review found that preclinical evidence was strong for CBD helping to ease anxiety, citing that more research is needed with regard to chronic and therapeutic dosing.
The 2015 review explains that CBD is thought to help with anxiety by the way it interacts with the cannabinoid type 1 receptor (CB1R), serotonin 5-beta hydroxytryptamine receptor 1 (5-HT1A), and transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) receptor. These are the receptors that regulate anxiety-related behaviors and fear.
A piece of research published in Frontiers in Pharmacology in 2016 adds that there is also evidence to suggest that CBD could also interrupt memory processes which may help reduce anxieties related to fear by changing the way certain memories are recalled.
One of the major obstacles with CBD research is the fact that industrial hemp was only legalized at the end of 2018, reducing scientist’s ability to study its effects before that date. Most studies conducted before then were on animals as opposed to humans. A piece of research to understand the ratio of CBD and dosage found that oral consumption of CBD between 300 mg to 600 mg was effective for anxiety. A lot of studies conducted agree that CBD could produce great effects for those battling anxiety including how bioavailability and absorption rate can play a role.
